Fort Hays, KS (38.86 N, -99.39 E)

The SuperDARN radars at Fort Hays, KS, mark yet another milestone in the history of HF radars. For the first time, two identical arrays have been build at the same site, looking in different directions - obviously. The antenna arrays form a chevron. These two radars, Fort Hays East and Fort Hays West, mark the beginning of the effort of the MSI Consortium to build 4 such double radars at mid-latitudes in 4 years.

The Fort Hays Radar is maintained locally by Mr. Cody Jiles of Fort Hays State University.
