Longyearbyen, Svalbard (78.153 N, 16.074 E)

The Svalbard radar (LYR) officially started its operations on 19 Oct 2016. The radar is a Leicester-style stereo radar. The same frequencies are used for both the day and night, because in Svalbard it usually is either daylight all day long or no daylight at all.

Dr. Dag Lorentzen is responsible for the operation of the Longyearbyen radar.
