
This is a list of all SuperDARN radars. It includes radars which are currently not operational, such as the Falkland Islands Radar. Please also note that you can click on the bold radar names to get more information about these radars.
The radar fields of view are shown for their nominal settings, that is for 16 beams distributed in azimuth symmetrically about the scanning boresite direction and 75 range gates of width 45 km that begin at 180 km. Some radars routinely operate with enlarged parameter settings, as indicated.
**The 2005 AACGM coefficients have been used along with an assumed altitude of 100 km in order to calculate the geomagnetic coordinates contained in this table. Be aware that the secular variation of Earth's magnetic field gives rise to perceptible annual variation in the coordinates. For example, the AACGM latitude of the Goose Bay Radar from 1995 to 2010 at five year intervals was 61.9, 61.5, 61.1, and 60.8 deg. Magnetic boresites have been calculated as follows: First, a geographic field point 50 km from the geographic radar location in the direction of the geographic boresite is determined. Next, both the geographic radar and field point locations are converted to AACGM coordinates as described above. Finally, the azimuth direction of the geomagnetic field point relative to the geomagnetic radar location is determined. This value is the geomagnetic boresite.Radars shown in
gray in the table below are not currently operational.
