Selection Criteria and Eligibility
1.This award is for advanced M.S. and Ph.D. students in good standing at their home institution in atmospheric and Earth system sciences, engineering, social sciences, and scientific computing.
2. Students from U.S. and international universities are eligible to apply.
3. The student’s work must be a programmatic fit to NCAR.
4. The visit is needed as part of the thesis or final project work.
5. ASP strives to have diverse representation of universities and student backgrounds in the graduate student cohort each year; and encourages applications from individuals who are members of a group that is historically under-represented in the atmospheric and related sciences, including students who are Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, and Hispanic or Latino, female, first generation college students, students with disabilities, and Veterans. ASP welcomes LGBTQA students.
6. Preference will be given to students without previous long-term graduate student visits to NCAR.
7. Alumni of NCAR undergraduate internships and the SOARS program are encouraged to apply.
8. Nominations are limited to one student per NCAR staff member per year.
